Responsive web design (RWD) is an approach to web design aimed at crafting sites to provide an optimal viewing and interaction experience easy reading and navigation with a minimum of resizing, panning, and scrolling across a wide range of devices (from desktop computer monitors to mobile phones).

A site designed with RWD adapts the layout to the viewing environment by using fluid, proportion-based grids, flexible images, and CSS3 media queries.

Responsive web design is becoming more important as the amount of mobile traffic now accounts for more than half of total internet traffic.

Frequently Asked Questions

We've tried to include below all the questions that get put us,
However if you have a question not listed then please feel free to get in touch and we will try and answer it for you.

It's a similar question to "how long is a piece of string?" or "how much does a car cost?".

There are so many variables involved and so many options available that there is no one size fits all answer.

  • Will the site have ecommerce?
  • Do you want a responsive website?
  • Do you need custom features or applications?
  • Do you need a content management system?
  • Branding? Search engine optimisation? Copywriting? Stock Photography?

  • The list goes on and on and each of these answers can affect everything from the time spent planning a site to the time spent developing it, which then impacts the cost of tbe website

Much like the cost of a website, this is very much dependent on the scope of the project.

The more straight-forward the project, the quicker it can be. For example, a simple content managed solution could potentially take less than a week to complete, however with so many differentiating factors we would have to supply a unique timeline for every project we work on.

If you have an important deadline to work towards, we will do everything to meet this for you.

If you have a business or organization it is and will be more vital than ever to have a presence online.

Many search engines display local search results allowing customers to connect to businesses and organizations locally; which is much easier than competing with major websites in the same industry.

In addition, mobile applications are becoming more popular; with the ability to suggest businesses and organization's based upon your location; but if you're not online it's impossible to be found.

We will ask that you send us as much content for your website as possible - images, text and other media.

At this stage it doesn't have to be everything, but enough for us to build a draft page or two. We will then produce one or two of these 'mock-up' pages based on your specifications to give you an idea of page structure, colour schemes and overall style.

You can then offer us feedback on any changes you would like us to make so that we can arrive at the final look for your website.

Once you are completely happy with a design, we will ask for the content needed to complete the site (if we don't have it already). We can then work on finishing it for you.

If you don't have much content at hand, we can help. You can request us to source images through a stock supplier or a photographer.

We can also offer branding and logo design if you require.

These services do come at an extra cost, and if not included in the original quote will be added and the final costs adjusted. We will try to keep any extra web design costs as low as possible.

This entirely depends on which stage of the design we are at. We will always send you 'mock-ups' and during this stage we do normally expect you to suggest changes to the design. This is to ensure that the final design is what you want.

However, once the final look has been agreed and we are at a later stage in the design, particularly when it is being programmed, any significant changes will incur additional charges due to the extra work involved.

In order to determine this we would need to get to know your idea / business and customers much better. Would you expect them to view your site on a mobile or tablet device? If the answer is yes, we would recommend considering incorporating a responsive framework into your website build. It will make your site far more accessible and should therefore result in more success with the goals your have for your site.
This is a question we ask prospective clients that many don't like to answer. They fear we will come back with a quote that matches their budget that could have been done cheaper. The reason we work with our clients to understand their budgets is so that we can tailor a solution to fit their budget. In almost all circumstances this can be achieved, so it's better we know from the start what we need to work towards.

As an example, we had a very happy client recently who came to us with a budget and vague specifications for a project, which we were able to deliver for half their budget.
